About Us:
|
The Victoria Inn, an
authentic century old country inn beckons from the magnificent
Northumberland Hills overlooking the waters, islands and stupendous
sunsets of Rice Lake, in southern Ontario.
The Victoria Inn is the perfect couples retreat for peace and
tranquility, whether lounging by the outdoor pool and patio deck
overlooking Rice Lake in the summer or enjoying the cozy peacefulness
of an inviting fireplace in in your own private room and the stress
release of a whirlpool.
We invite you to step back
100 years, and imagine the Inn when it was a private home of an artist.
Gerald Hayward, the original owner, designed the home and commissioned
Fred Pratt, a local boat builder to build this U.S. eastern seaboard
"shingles style" summer home.

Our Facilities:
|

The Inn features a 3 storey octagonal tower, bell curved roof
and diamond paned windows. There are also ocular windows, and eye-brow
dormers. Originally there were two storeys of open verandah. These were
closed in in the 1940's. However, all the original (external) doors and
windows were kept. All the high oak wainscoting, art nouveau and
mission architecture have been preserved.
Rick Beaver Room
This is a large, sunny bedsitting room with a
sideways view of the lake with the original French door to the balcony
opening up into a sunroom. And a fireplace for cozy, romantic evenings.
And a whirlpool bath for stress release and relaxation. There is a
queen bed and a sofa bed, suitable for two to four people.

Susannah Room
This room is on the shady side of the house
overlooking the patio. Its original French doors open onto a little
reading nook with an old 'fainting bed'. There is a fireplace for cozy,
romantic evenings and an old Quebec armoire. There is a queen bed and a
sofa bed, suitable for two to four people.

Turret Room
An architectural gem with its wooden tent ceiling. The home was built
by Fred Pratt, a local boat builder, according to Gerald Hayward's
design. This room is in the top of the turret, overlooking the lake.
With all its windows, it brings in the daylight, and is great during a
lightning storm. This is also the honeymoon suite with a queen bed,
suitable for two people.

The
dining room is open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Reservations are required. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served to
the public - reservations required, please! Regular menu daily,
offering fish, chicken or beef entrees, homemade soups, salads and
desserts. Creative seasonal specials, offering items such as pheasant,
lamb, free range chicken. Special care is taken to cater to food
allergies. Delicious vegetarian dishes.
